Hey there! I’m DAMI.

Fun Fact: I can literally stay indoors for weeks as long as I have a good Korean show and my laptop. It’s a superpower, really!

My Journey: From Zero to Software Engineer

Picture this: A kid from Lagos, Nigeria, with absolutely zero programming experience stumbles into a college programming class. Plot twist? That random decision completely changed my life trajectory!

The Weeknd all the way! 🔥 There’s something about his music that just hits different when you’re deep in a coding session. Whether it’s debugging at 2 AM or pushing a major feature, Abel’s voice is the perfect background vibe.
Fun fact: “Blinding Lights” has probably played through my headphones more times than I’ve written “Hello World” programs!
After pushing hundreds of lines of code at Meta (and probably breaking something in the process), you’ll find me in my natural habitat: my couch, wrapped in a blanket, watching comfort shows. 🥰
It’s the perfect end to a day of debugging other people’s code… or let’s be honest, debugging my own code from yesterday when I thought I was being clever.
Plantain and eggs! 🍌🍳 It’s the perfect combination – sweet, savory, and absolutely satisfying. Plus, it’s easy to make and doesn’t require leaving the house for fancy ingredients!
Pro tip: Perfectly ripe plantains with scrambled eggs is the ultimate comfort food that pairs amazingly with a good Korean drama binge session!
Here’s where it gets interesting – I somehow landed a Google Africa Scholarship to learn coding without any prior programming experience. Talk about fake it till you make it! 😅
That scholarship wasn’t just about learning to code; it was about believing that someone from Lagos could make it in the global tech scene. Spoiler alert: it worked!

Fast forward to today, and I’m living the dream as a Software Engineer at Meta (yes, the company formerly known as Facebook). Sometimes I still can’t believe it!

What Drives Me?

Let’s be real here – money! 💰

But hear me out, it’s not just about the cash (okay, maybe mostly about the cash). Growing up in Lagos taught me the value of financial security and the freedom it brings. Plus, who doesn’t want to afford unlimited K-drama AND anime streaming subscriptions? 😄

The Real Talk

I’m not your typical “let’s go hiking and find ourselves” tech blogger. I’m more of a “let’s stay in, binge-watch Crash Landing on You for the 5th time, and reflect on life” kind of person. I believe in being thoughtful and reflective rather than adventurous. Sometimes the best insights come from quiet moments with your laptop, a good show, and maybe some Nigerian jollof rice (fight me, Ghana! 🇳🇬).
